Pop up Food Markets in BA!
The recent spike in food costs in BA has lead to a few creative options in the local food market. While many have opted for buying goods in the BA central market known as the Mercado Central, a more convenient option within city limits has literally popped up in a few neighborhoods.
Recently, outdoor food markets have begun popping up local plazas selling all sorts of goods. The staple goods being sold are fresh vegetables, poultry, fish and meat products, amoungst others. Discounts compared to local supermarkets pricese are around 50%!
So far they have popped up in Caballito, Coglhan (Intersection of Miller and Monroe street) and Villa Crespo to name a few. They are generally open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. Be sure to ask around your neighborhood for local food markets, and get your changuito (shopping cart) ready!

As.

These aren’t new – and they’re held all over the city – the ferias itinerantes program has been around for years – it’s administered by the city government. There’s a schedule of where they’re held here: http://www.buenosaires.gov.ar/areas/espacio_publico/mantenimiento_urbano/ferias_mercados/ubicacion.php?menu_id=23759

Dan´s right. There is one in my neighborhood at the corners of Malabia and Nicaragua that is open on Saturdays and it has been for a couple of years now.
That link Dan left you is a good one for seeing all of them.

Good to know! I remember trying on in my area and was not as regular as I had hoped. Hopefully they are re-energizing the whole program.
But if two of my favorite foodies say its good, its definitely worth a try!
I will update post to include schedule.

Yes agree with Dan and Frank they’ve been around forever and they’re regular, the one in Mafalda park in Colegiales is open Wednesdays mornings up to 1pm. I go there often, prices are really good.

That must be what gets me…I work all day during the week, so by the time I get there they are gone.
